“Great Law School”
August 2018CURRENT STUDENT
Uppers

the professors and great culture (nice, down to earth people, at least by law school standards)

Downers

Saint Louis is not the most exciting city, but Forest Park is amazing, there is a decent arts and music scene, and law student life is too busy for more than that anyway

Comments

This is a great school, but definitely leans towards MO and NY jobs, not as much in the West.

Smart student body

Great clinics

Good opportunities outside of the classroom (externships, 1L summer programs, etc.)

Downers

St. Louis / Midwest

Career Services Office (CSO) could be better

Comments

The Career Services Office (CSO) could be better--you'll want to be sure to focus early on the markets and cities you want if you don't want to end up in the Midwest.

“Great academic environment, but St. Louis is not so great for new law graduates”
December 2016FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

Great academic environment and professors

Low living expense in a mid-west city

Downers

Career service isn't very helpful

Limited OCI opportunity

Bad local economy

Comments

In terms of cost, spending three years in St. Louis will save you thousands compared to most major cities.

“Excellent School with Few Shortcomings”
September 2015CURRENT STUDENT
Uppers

Collegial

Quietely competitive

Generous financial aid

Star professors

Good employment opportunities

Downers

Everyone transfers to HYS/CCN

Politically correct

Turnover in CSO

Comments

Not a T14, but you can still get looks from Vault 100 firms if you're top 25/33%. I am just inside the top 25% and had loads of interviews. The school has an excellent reputation among firms.

“Washu Law reviewed by rising 2L”
May 2015CURRENT STUDENT
Uppers

Professors-talented and informative

Law students-friendly, not too competitive

Downers

Campus-too green and isolated

Career services-unhelpful, just wants everyone to have some summer job regardless of quality

Comments

It's a good school, but make sure you have significant merit aid if you want to go to WashU.

Collegial atmosphere, approachable professors, and the alumni base is engaged and more than willing to help students out as they search for jobs.

Downers

The Career Services office could do more to ensure that students find employment that is to their liking. Too often students end up doing much of the job search on their own because the CSO did not do anything.

Comments

Think very carefully about the market in which would like to work post graduation. If you are interested in anything outside of St. Louis, Chicago, NY, and DC, WashU may not be your best option.
