Small student body; great job prospects; cheap cost of living; big law-focused
DownersThe small student body can contribute to a high school like feel and people are can be very competitive, but I don't think this is worse than any other law school. The city itself is good to go to school in but it would be more fun to be in larger market.
CommentsPretty much everyone gets big law if they want it and I was near the bottom half of my class. Going to a school like this really takes the pressure off of being a law student.

World class faculty and student bodies; access to other professional schools such as Wharton for cross-disciplinary, well-rounded education.
DownersDespite the high tuition, there is always the impression that some parts of the school facilities are underfunded (e.g. library print room).
CommentsDefinitely go to an open day and find out as much about the school as possible. I would say the faculty is much more important than course offerings.

Collegial students, excellent professors (except for Amy Wax), beautiful school, in the lovely city of Philadelphia.
DownersThe school is extremely expensive. You will be paying of loans for many years without a scholarship.
CommentsBe sure to visit the school and sit in on a class to help in your decision. Penn Law has the best placement into large law firms if that is important to you.

- Consistently ranked among the top 3 in terms of percentage of students getting biglaw roles
Downers- Not enough activities and school support to interact with other student
CommentsCareer services is really functional and it has one of the best cultures of any law school out there.

Great professors and bright students
Great on campus interview process
DownersCafeteria is not great/non existent but there is a food court nearby
CommentsPhiladelphia is a good-sized city with many fun things to do
Would You RecommendYes
Collegial atmosphere, small class size, good professors, great career services
DownersLocated in the ghetto, liberal bias, no free coffee, expensive
CommentsIt is a great school, a law degree from Penn pretty much guarantees a job.
Would You RecommendYes
Challenging classes, great professors and a collegial atmosphere among the student body
DownersLaw school in itself is a lot of pressure, but that's not unique to Penn
CommentsTake advantage of the multi-disciplinary focus of the school (e.g., they offer a dual degree with Wharton)

There's no rat race at Penn Law: sure, it's competitive and high-pressure, but the students are kind and friendly to one another. And, by and large, the faculty are really invested in the students' education and professional development.
DownersCompared to its peer schools, Penn sports relatively small classes, but the sections are still pretty populous -- resulting in "gunners" hogging a lot of the professors' attention during class time.
CommentsPerfect balance of high-quality Ivy League education and a collegial student body and faculty.

Small class and section size was a strong selling point
DownersThe facilities were circa-70s and are overdue for a renovation
CommentsYou will make fast friends for life who you can count on throughout your legal career

There are always plenty of seminars (usually 12-14 students) made available. It is very much a "choose your own adventure" type of curriculum, as students who really enjoy theory classes can take those to their hearts' content, whereas there are more practical classes that are taught by full-time professors but also some excellent adjunct professors and practitioners that the school brings in.
Quality of LifePhilly is a (relatively) inexpensive city compared to other places along the east coast. The facilities are top-notch with more under construction. They have recently overhauled the computer stations, which is a great improvement. Philadelphia is a very inviting, fun city.
AdmissionsThere was nothing unique that I recall.
