Best environment - have made incredible friends and people are so supportive of one another. The professors are absolutely incredible - I wish I could take more credits in a semester to experience more of them! Employers LOVE people who went to Michigan too so that's a huge perk
DownersNothing really, sometimes location can be hard to network, but at the same time you're not competing to all go to the same place so that's really nice
CommentsCan't make a bad decision to go here. Highly recommend!

My peers are really supportive; professors are generally accessible; lots of opportunities to get great skills outside of classes.
DownersThe winter can be brutal, especially if you're not used to it. Also, there is still some competition, even though it's probably the least of all top law schools.
CommentsIf you want a supportive community, this is the place to be.

Down to earth classmates - Cut throat and Univ. of Michigan Law School do not go together. One of my closest friends from that time called it the Disney Land of law schools.
Helpful Alumni - I had a lot of success reaching out to various Michigan Alumni in order to ask them about their work or experience or advice. I had a lot of alumni generously make time for me to pick their brain as a 1L.
DownersPrice tag - Tuition prices are expensive at University of Michigan and for out of state students, there are essentially no opportunities to obtain residency.
CommentsAnn Arbor is certainly a small town and dominated by the University but it has a lot more to offer than pizza and beer. When it comes to food and night life, Ann Arbor certainly has way above average offerings.

People are friendly and willing to help one another. It's a good environment overall. Professors are great.
DownersIt's law school. Couple of gunners who like to compete but not too many of those. So professors are not approachable, but these are very few.
CommentsIt's a great culture where people are genuine and seek to help each other. Student orgs are amazing and folks do care for one another.

Michigan is a fantastic law school with impressive faculty, awesome surroundings and a valuable degree in recruiting.
DownersTuition is far too expensive, as with all other elite law schools. I paid back pretty significant student loans for several years.
CommentsWhich law school (if any) you should attend depends a lot on what type of career you think you want. If you hope to work in BigLaw, you should go to the highest ranked law school that accepts you.

Michigan has great professors, a collegial atmosphere, and a beautiful campus. Job prospects are strong - the Michigan brand carriers throughout the country.
DownersTuition is expensive, and it continues to rise. Not a fan of the underground, green carpeted library.
CommentsIf you are considering public interest, Michigan has an outstanding loan repayment assistance program.

Collegiate atmosphere, supportive community, accessible professors, awesome clinical program, powerful and far-reaching alumni network.
DownersThat UMLS is not located in a major legal market can be frustrating as the school may not have quite as many connections to organizations or firms in a given city.
CommentsIn terms of cost, spending three years in Ann Arbor will save you thousands compared to most major cities.

The students professors are excellent. Great clinical opportunities for students who want a more hands-on education. Challenging, yet rewarding experience.
DownersThe winters are known to be cold, if this school was in California it would probably rank in the top 5 law schools in the country.
CommentsThe alumni connections, academic rigor, and prestigious reputation remain the biggest advantages for attending Michigan Law.

The quality of professors is amazing. They're also very approachable. The new law school building means that there's a lot of space, and everything looks very new. Football!
DownersThe winters are very cold, and there's no getting away from that.
CommentsStudents from Michigan go to every market. The downside is that a lot of the friends you make in law school will end up being very far away from you after graduation.
