Strong community and network in multiple cities. Good ties to NY as well as Boston.

Bus Schedule and the food is not the best, but not reasons not to attend.

Warm, friendly professors; great preparation for career in corporate law

Downers

Suburban campus; fratty; not great financial aid; need to be in very top part of class to get great job opportunities

Comments

If you are interested in the possibility of getting BigLaw without breaking the bank for a T14, this is your bet.

“Fantastic Education in Fun Atmosphere”
February 2017FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

* Vibrant social life among law students

* Cooperative learning and student-first professors

* Great opportunities for higher-ranked students

Downers

* Difficult job placement for lower-ranked students

* Limited tenured faculty in certain subject areas

* More senior professors rarely publish and lack current academic bona fides

Comments

In terms of job placement, which should be the #1 factor in choosing a law school, it is excellent nationwide for students who are top performers (e.g., law review, top 10%) and strong in the Boston market for students with solid credentials (e.g., top half of class).

My classmates are all smart, interesting and personable. There isn't a cut throat mentality. If you miss a class, someone will send you notes and explain whatever you don't get.

Downers

Some of the classrooms aren't as new as you would hope--not dilapidated but also not new.

Comments

Visit the school and talk to the students. Everyone will tell you its not your normal law school. Its a friendly environment, which is refreshing because law school is stressful enough

Genuine respect and admiration for classmates; school culture was inviting and collaborative.

Downers

Political beliefs were polarized among the faculty and there was an expectation that student beliefs would be consistent therewith.

Comments

There is a very good balance between expectations and support, which provides for an excellent environment to learn without unnecessary stress.

The classes are all excellent. There are a number of electives, and there are several opportunities to 'specialize' in a particular field or practice area. Every professor is very knowledge in their field and is very well prepared for class every day. Additionally, BC as an institution has a 'students first' mentality, so even when professors are doing research on their own, their primary focus is on remaining accessible to students, both as professors and as mentors. Most 1L classes employ the Socratic method, but after that it varies. About 1/3 of the classes use a scheduled 'on-call' system, and the other 2/3 just rely on volunteers. Academic advising is excellent, as any one of the Deans is always available to meet and work through any issues. There is no competitiveness here. Everyone gets along and sincerely wants the people around them to do well. That helps, because the workload is tough. This is a top tier law school, and the faculty knows that students must perform at that level. There are plenty of research opportunities - professors are always looking for research assistants (paid & unpaid), and there are summer & semester international programs that a few students each year participate in.

Quality of Life

The best place to go to law school. Period. Everyone gets along, there are always fun activities, great speakers, involved clubs, and passionate students. With so many opportunities on campus, everyone finds something they enjoy, which makes coming to school here a real pleasure and a privilege.

Admissions

Applied through LSAC. Seemed that Essay, Letters of Rec, LSAT, and undergrad GPA was the order of consideration.

There are plenty of opportunities for students to pursue their own academic interests, and the faculty is friendly.

Quality of Life

The quality of life at BC can't be beat. You have all the advantages of living in a big city, but the campus is nestled away in a quieter suburban setting
