“Overall a good place to get a law degree”
September 2019FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

Location, alumni network, professors, health law program, class options, peers

Downers

They need to work on their rating, the brand new school is nice but what is the cost?

Comments

It's a good school but consider the cost. Also, because of its ranking, you'll need excellent grades to get the same opportunities as others at higher ranked schools.

“Great Professors”
March 2019FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

The quality of the professors is top notch. You can expect challenging classes and meaningful interaction.

Downers

The school refuses to reduce class size despite falling rankings.

Comments

Get as much scholarship money as you can, and consider other options if you receive more money from them.

“Great School in D.C. Area”
December 2016FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

Quality of faculty-many are real world practitioners rather than Ivory Tower types.

Great clinical program.

Beautiful new campus.

Downers

-Too much of a focus on Humantiarian law-these types of jobs are scant and not readily available not non T-14 law school students.

-Did not have the best Career Counseling program-more or less "try and network" advice.

Comments

If you are looking for a D.C. based law school where you can learn from great professors, WCL is a great choice. Also, if you lean liberal, you will feel comfortable here.

“Washington College of Law - LL.M.”
March 2016FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

Judicial clerkship counselor is very responsive and helpful, even when reaching out as an alumni.

Downers

LL.M. in Law and Government students do not have as many opportunities to take advantage of the organizations in the school and are limited in the journals or groups they can be a part of.

Comments

It is in NW DC. The school recently was upgraded to new facilities and has state of the art resources now.

“WCL Review”
February 2016FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

WCL has some amazing professors who not only enjoy teaching, but are great teachers too. And the professors have excellent relationships with nonprofits and government agencies for those interested in internships in those areas.

Downers

WCL admits a ton of students to each class, which makes the school feel less prestigious.

Comments

Overall, you can receive an excellent education at WCL, if you are selective about which classes to take.

“WCL Experience”
April 2015CURRENT STUDENT
Uppers

Many great professors. Fantastic AU Law Review experience. Friendly and less competitive environment.

Downers

Administration cares little about JD students' job placement. The school has many great programs, but they are less known because too much emphasis is placed on international law (especially human rights).

Comments

WCL is located in a nice neighborhood in DC with a new campus to be opened soon, which provides great opportunities for networking.

“Good School”

Uppers

Great teachers

Well regarded program

Good exit opportunities

Well known

Downers

Too big

Rankings are dropping

Focus too much on international law

Comments

Think about what area of law you want to go into. If it is international law this will be good for you.
