It is a fun campus with a lot to do and plenty of opportunities to get involved with research, philanthropy, travel, etc.
DownersAs a large campus, it can be easy to feel like a number or feel lost in the crowd. Students have to make an extra effort to find their niche.
CommentsThis is a fantastic school for pretty much any major you are considering, with world-renowned researchers and programs.

Tons of classes and majors. Culture is next to none, the entire campus goes crazy on Saturday for football games then is in the library working hard on Sunday. Ability to make the campus feel smaller through student orgs and other communities. Awesome city that is not very expensive. Student body is (mostly) intelligent and attractive. Good professors given UW's strength in research. Low cost relative to other comparable publics.
DownersHuge intro classes (as with any public university). Difficult to find a job outside the Midwest. Limited opportunities for most prestigious jobs upon graduation. Business school has meh reputation.
CommentsWas concerned about the quality of student body coming in, but if you seek them out you can find equally motivated students easily. Even the smartest and most hardworking people love to have fun on the weekends too, you can't help it when you're surrounded by such a fun environment.
The Business school specifically does a great job of getting students jobs following graduation, but if you want IB/Consulting/etc. you have to work twice as hard as someone at an Ivy, especially if you want to go to NYC. There are several selective clubs with goals of placing students in these positions that do a pretty good job of it. The Investment Banking Club has a pretty good rep on Wall Street and helps place a bit less than 2 dozen students into IB positions per year. IU/Mich/etc. are probably a better choice for that route in terms of B1G schools however.

The size attracts recruiters to campus
Fantastic sports
Amazing college town
DownersWith an enormous school, classes typically take a lecture hall format and you generally do not connect with professors.
CommentsThere is a lot that could be improved, and although it draws students in, the school should focus more on academics instead of athletics. Great fun, not the best for job opportunities.

Fantastic campus, caring professors, tons of student groups to make a huge campus seem small.
DownersWinter is understandably long but manageable. Not enough flight connection to Dane County airport.
CommentsIt's a great place to go to school with so much to offer.

Prestige among public and private universities. Many job opportunities after graduation. Well-rounded experiences.
DownersThere is a certain amount of anonymity in the classroom that prevents deeper discussions in some instances.
CommentsThe University of Wisconsin is difficult to beat in terms of overall value when taking into account quality of academics, student life balance, and future outcomes.
