Knoxville is a great and cheap place to live. Neighborhood immediately surrounding the law school keeps getting worse and worse, though!

Downers

Application was similar to most law schools.

Quality of classes were excellent. Nice balance of theory vs. practical study. Little use of the Socratic method. Very little academic advising. Small class sizes past the first year. Not very competitive. Academic programs seemed pretty standard for a law school. Few research opportunities. Fair grading. Notable factory. Study abroad opportunities. Heavy workload.

Downers

Cost of living is low. Campus is spread out with an illogical bus system and building design. Law school facilities were new and modern while rest of campus was outdated and building layout was not convenient. Law library was comprehensive and well-designed. Computer lab in library was useful and well-stocked. Dining facilities were expensive and did not have good choices. Campus focused on safety. Overall happiness was not the best.

If you're going to Manny, you'll probably come out with an ok degree but world class stories and friends.

“Tennessee really excels in this area because the students get along, making the environment a positive one throughout the three years. Certainly there's a lot of competitiveness, but I made lifelong friendships with a lot of classmates and am really proud of how we treated each other respectfully and encouragingly during our time in the College.”

LSAT, application essays, short answer questions, various data. A good balance of requiring some specialized information, but not requesting hours and hours of unique work.

The facilities are nice. The law school building has an excellent library and modern classrooms. Housing in Knoxville is affordable, generally, but living any place near school is impractical and undesireable.
