Facilities, Breadth of Scholastic Opportunities, Athletic Tradition, Lively Social Atmosphere and Beautiful Campus.

Former President Richard Broadhead was disconnected from students and alumni the administration generally reflected his lack of leadership.

“Great Balance of Academics and Fun”
April 2015FORMER STUDENT
Uppers

Great sports and opportunities for internships and travel, paid for by the school.

Downers

Some students can be a bit intense. Many people will party until 2 in the morning, be in the library by 8 a.m. and start day drinking on the quad by 2 p.m.

Comments

Consider how comfortable you will be with the majority of your life on campus. Most students don't get very involved with and don't explore the community of Durham. There is not much to do outside of school work.

Pratt School of Engineering accepts all AP credit. Engineering curriculum doesn't compromise liberal arts opportunities.

Quality of Life

Quintessential college campus - everything you'll ever need is on campus. Can be a bit of a bubble. Going out into Durham/Chapel Hill for a break from campus life is really easy.

Admissions

Merit-based scholarships available... fairly unique to Duke among top-tier schools.

Admissions

I applied early decision. The Ed rate is about 30% while regular is about 10%.
