“How does the railroad stay up and running”
Eugene, OR2018VERIFIED INTERN
Uppers

The best aspects of the internship were learning the everyday maintenance required to keep the railroad running. I really enjoyed being out in the field working with the crews and hearing everything they know. I learn about this type of material in school, but going out in the field helps learning so much more.

Downers

The internship is pretty short for large scale projects that are being planned right now.

Advice to Potential Interns

Hours are a guideline. Each day is different and depending on what happens that day you might need to be on the job for longer than a normal shift so trains can run again.

Advice to Management

Some of the training at the beginning of the internship was so painful. There are a lot of policies and rules that can be taught in the field much better than in a classroom.
