About PG&E Summer Intern Program

Pacific Gas and Electric Company is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. There are approximately 20,000 employees who carry out Pacific Gas and Electric Company's primary business—the transmission and delivery of energy. PG&E provides natural gas and electric service to approximately 15 million people throughout a 70,000-square-mile service area in northern and central California. PG&E interns have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects throughout the company with a focus on engineering internships in our core operations. Interns work in headquarters and in field locations and work closely with PG&E professionals. Facility tours, an executive speaker series, and a poster presentation assist interns in learning more about the company. Internships typically last 10 to 12 weeks and include a competitive salary, paid company holidays, and relocations stipends. Interns are paid on an hourly basis twice a month and are eligible for overtime. Median intern pay is $22/hour.

Interns must be currently enrolled in and returning to a four-year accredited institution or pursuing a graduate degree. The field of study varies by line of business need.

Interns working in our core business lines are required to be pursuing applicable engineering degrees: Electric, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical and Computer Engineering are an area of focus. We look for candidates exhibiting a strong work ethic and initiative, the ability to work well in a team environment, strong written and verbal communication skills, active involvement in extracurricular activities, and good academic standing.

Internships last 10-12 weeks and interns are expected to be authorized to work in the U.S. and, in many cases, to be licensed drivers.
