Verizon Communications Inc. has almost 55 million customers throughout the United States in addition to its global IP network. As such, it is one of the largest providers of broadband, wireline and wireless communications. The dominant force in American telecommunications, in recent years Verizon has begun developing a fiber-optic network to strengthen its famously reliable coverage. The company pulls in about $97 billion in annual revenue each year.
Interns work in the telecom division’s college intern program. With both technical and business positions available, interns are placed in the firm’s engineering, telecommunications, operations research, IT, marketing, sales, finance, accounting and HR departments. Throughout the program, Verizon interns learn about the company’s various sectors, have access to online courses and serve on the intern advisory board.
Open to students entering at least their sophomore year of college who have relevant experience and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates for technical internships should be working toward a BS, MS or PhD in electrical/computer engineering, computer science, telecommunications, DIS/MIS/CIS or operations research. Business internship candidates should be pursuing a BS, MS or MBA in accounting, finance, human resources, marketing, MIS, sales or operations research.
