About Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization that oversees educational programs, programming, marketing, public relations, publicity, and ticket sales for Wolf Trap. Wolf Trap, America’s National Park for the Performing Arts, was founded in 1966 when Catherine Filene Shouse donated 100 acres of Virginia farmland and money to the US government. More than 50 years later, Wolf Trap now includes two performance centers--the Filene Center and the barns at Wolf Trap--and hosts numerous performances ranging from dance to music to theatre. The organization also hosts education programs and a summer residency program for opera singers. It strives to “present and create excellent and innovative performing arts programs for the enrichment, education, and enjoyment of diverse audiences and participants.”

Wolf Trap’s internship program provides hands-on experience for students interested in arts administration, education, and theatre. Opportunities are available in such areas as accounting, advertising and sales, education, human resources, information systems, production, technical theatre, ticket sales, the Wolf Trap Opera Company, and more. Interns participate in field trips to other arts organizations, professional development, and Wolf Trap’s mentorship program. They can also take advantage of free Master Class offerings.

Open to undergraduates (sophomore year and above), recent graduates, MBA candidates, graduate students, PhD candidates, law students, and mid-career applicants. Non-US citizens are welcome to apply.
