We have three intern cycles (Spring, Summer, and Fall) that go with the semesters of the school year. The summer is typically the most competitive. Internship opportunities are added to our website on a semesterly basis, and they range from Key Relationships and Water Programs to Operations and Finance. This is an unpaid internship, but all of our interns are students or recent grads and can use this experience to gain college credit and relevant experience in their field of study. The hiring process functions with the individual intern managers making decisions on interviewing and hiring.
Once an intern is hired, that is where the intern manager comes in with general onboarding. Each intern is able to attend small discussions catered specifically to them throughout their internship, and they're truly a part of the team. We say "our interns don't fetch coffee" and it's true! They all complete meaningful work and projects during their time at charity: water.
Most of the eligibility and hiring process is up to each individual hiring manager. We don't have a list of general qualifications for an intern to be eligible other than the Department of Labor's standards in New York. We do want each intern to be amazing at what they do, so we expect quality candidates to apply.
