About American Enterprise Institute

Founded in 1943, the American Enterprise Institute is a nonprofit organization focused on research and education. In addition to its approximately 185 employees, AEI hosts a group of around 50 adjunct scholars and fellows who perform research and participate in conferences relating to economics, education, energy and the environment, foreign defense and policy, health, politics and public opinion, and society and culture. The organization is dedicated to “expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity and strengthening free enterprise.”

AEI interns are paired with scholars, economists, political scientists and foreign policy specialists. They work in various areas, including American politics, Asian studies, communications, constitutional studies, defense studies, demographics, education policy, event planning, economic policy, fundraising, gender studies, international development, international trade and finance, journalism, Middle Eastern studies, media affairs, monetary affairs and retirement policy, online media, and Russian studies. Among interns’ duties are completing writing and editing projects, writing literature reviews, compiling dossiers, researching, and monitoring media sources. AEI also holds intern-only lectures and conferences, networking events, and a formal intern recognition dinner.

Open to undergraduates (generally upperclassmen), MBA students, graudate students, and recent graduates. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required, but successful candidates usually have a GPA of at least 3.5. Non-US cititzens are welcome to apply.
