About International Radio and Television Society Foundation

The International Radio and Television Society (IRTS) Foundation provides a common forum for anyone interested in the communications industry, To that end, the foundation offers an eclectic menu of educational luncheons, seminars and workshops. IRTS also sponsors the Summer Fellowship program, which aims to give students hands-on experience of the industry, along with advice for future stages of their career. In sum, IRTS works to combine the knowledge and vision of the industry’s different generations of professionals and leaders.

IRTS places interns in media companies throughout New York. Interns take on a variety of different roles, depending on their skills and goals, as well as the needs of the organization. Interns may work in news, production, standards and practices, sales and marketing, entertainment PR, research, media planning/buying, programming and other fields. Prior to the start of thie internship, IRTS provides its fellows with a one-week orientation program. Interns also have access to speakers series, seminars and networking opportunities within the IRTS throughout two month program.


The fellowship is open to college juniors, seniors, recent graduates and grad students. Applicants should have demonstrated interest in the field through extracurricular activities or prior experience and a GPA of at least 3.2.
