About Oshkosh Corporation Internship Program

Oshkosh Corporation is a leading manufacturer and marketer of access equipment, specialty vehicles and truck bodies for the primary markets of defense, concrete placement, refuse hauling, access equipment and fire & emergency.

We make it our business to understand the rigors of our customers' jobs, and deliver vehicles to them that out-perform anything else on the market. Our commitment to the highest quality products and customer support extends the lifetime of our vehicles through our 24/7 global service network. And because our company is broadly diversified, we can leverage our proprietary technologies to create powerful competitive advantages across many different markets.

The mission of the Oshkosh Corporation internship program is to create and sustain a world-class program by attracting, developing, and growing the most talented collegiate students into Oshkosh’s future leaders. The program has been built on three foundational principles 1) providing interns with real-world work experience, 2) professional development and exposure to leadership throughout the organization, and 3) social activities and events along the way that help them build relationships with fellow interns and co-workers.

Oshkosh offers summer and year-round internships, as well as co-ops.   All interns are paid very competitively and those coming from outside the area receive a relocation stipend. Some additional benefits include paid holidays, flexible work schedules, and paid time to volunteer in the community.

During their time in the program, interns work hand in hand with full time employees, serving on the same teams and working on the same projects. This structure allows interns to be a part of the action, learning from professionals in their field, and applying the knowledge they have received from their education to real life projects.  We also offer many training sessions on a wide range of topics that allow interns the opportunity to develop professionally in their careers.

Interns also find value in the interactions they have with leadership throughout the organization.  Highlights of the program also include dinner with the CEO and executive leadership team as well as the end of the summer intern expo where interns showcase their accomplishments and lessons learned. This event is attended by top level leaders and employees from throughout the organization.

Finally, we like to have fun at Oshkosh Corporation. Since our interns come from all over, we host many social events that allow them to meet and socialize with one another. Past events have included minor league baseball games, visits to historic Lambeau Field (Home of the Green Bay Packers), volleyball leagues, and rides in our defense vehicles at our test track.

Interns are defined as college students currently enrolled in and pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university having previously completed their high school education.  Interns must be 18 years old at time employment starts and actively enrolled for the entire duration of their internship.

We primarily seek Junior or Senior grade level students and may give consideration to certain Sophomore students, depending on need, major and experience level.

Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is preferred.  Students must be a U.S. person or legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship as we do not provide sponsorship.

The purpose of the Oshkosh Corporation internship program is to create a pipeline of talent for the organization. For this reason, we look for students that are leaders and innovators. Students that challenge themselves to think outside the box, look for ways to continuously improve, and then drive positive change become extremely successful. Oshkosh has a fast-paced, team-centric culture and requires individuals to be strong communicators, team players, and possess the ability to balance many priorities at the same time. This challenge helps students develop both personally and professionally, and we look for students that will meet this opportunity head on.

Our summer internships run from May/June through August.  Co-ops are a 7-9 month commitment, and a year round internship is for students looking to work part time (20 hours per week) during the school year and full time in the summer.
