Oracle has the distinction of being the world’s largest business software company. For over a quarter of a century, Oracle has been producing the software that has shaped the technology of businesses around the world. Oracle has reported steady growth despite the economic downturn: in summer 2008, it created a global business unit to develop software applications for the health care industry.
Oracle prides itself on providing a livable work style for its employees. A casual dress code and an extensive “campus” replete with cafés, state-of-theart exercise facilities and a club room are some of the perks, as well as social activities arranged for interns.
When it comes to internships, Oracle provides opportunities to assist people from all backgrounds in exploring careers at a technology company and encourage interest in IT-related fields. The internships help with the development of up-to-date skills that are needed in today's workplace. Interns work on real projects in the following fields:
Product Development - A product development internship provides invaluable experience in what it is like to work at a leading global hardware and software systems innovator with industry experts, award-winning developers, and knowledgeable veterans. Contributions from interns will enhance real Oracle products and services. Interns are even given the freedom to be creative and have the opportunity to invent entirely new features or even a new product. Their product development skills will not go unnoticed and by the end of the internship, participants should expect to be linked to a powerful network of developers, managers, and executives.
Project Manager - Interns lead the Shopper Intelligence Platform report guide update project by gathering appropriate screen shots of each report build; updating the language in the current report guide to include enhancements; building new report guides for the latest reports; and re-skinning the report guide with Oracle standard templates. In addition, interns are expected to help test SIP features and reports scheduled to be updated during the summer 2016. They will also assist in the development of the CPG Retail Product Handbook for use by the Solutions and Sales teams; assist in the development of internal training materials for CPG Retail Product; and develop a comprehensive competitive analysis for CPG Retail to be delivered at the end of the internship.
Utility Analytics - Be a part of Oracle’s global utility industries team! Global utilities business unit offers the most comprehensive set of World-Class CT-IT-OT business solutions that allow customers to deliver operational efficiency, innovative customer experience and performance excellence. A Utility Analytics Summer intern will be working on the DataRaker product with Oracle's data science organization. The Data Science organization is responsible for researching, developing, and maintaining all of the operational analytics used by the company's utility customers. This internship position will be responsible for helping the organization migration algorithm’s from its existing product to its brand new platform. Interns will work to test and document as-is functionality and be responsible for migrating, configuring and testing algorithms on the new platform. Day to day, some of the responsibilities include participation and support in current client algorithm documentation in preparation for system migration, including the cataloging of current xml and generation of xml for the new platform; high level algorithm documentation; ad-hoc data analysis; and algorithm evaluation. Those who have worked with data manipulation, are interested in Big Data Analytics, or generally like to use data to solve problems, might be a good fit.
Cloud Sales Engineer - The Cloud Sales Engineering Team is responsible for leading business-focused cloud architecture initiatives. Interns will be introduced to many aspects of the Sales Engineering Organization through a series of rotational activities. Managed rotations will allow candidates to experience and apply new skills as they support the different disciplines and groups that form the Sales Engineering Organization. The role will allow candidates to leverage their business background and acumen to assist with formalization of the fiscal year business plan and strategy. Everyday work includes participating in a full cloud sales engineering engagement, inclusive of all steps in Oracle’s cloud architecture process; working with product and domain cloud specialists in support of different sales opportunities; assisting the Cloud Customer Success organization with “on-boarding” of new customer’s to Oracle’s public cloud; supporting Sales Engineering Operations team with go-to-market campaigns; and assisting with innovation and development of digital assets to support cloud sales engineers in North America
