GDIT is in the business of technology and strategic consulting, and they are looking for people who share an interest and passion for what they do. General Dynamics Information Technology offers a large variety of internships in virtually all major departmental disciplines and locations. The largest hubs are in Bossier City, LA and the Northern Virginia area.
GDIT typically offers a 10-12 week summer program, as well as occasional part time internships during the school year. Summer interns often turn into employees.
Interns will have the chance to experience life as a General Dynamics IT employee first-hand. Interns have real responsibilities and work alongside experienced leaders and other smart, motivated people. If you are selected, here's what you can expect from your internship:
- Work Experience- Your assignments will allow you to actively contribute to the business team's mission. The goal is to provide you with meaningful work and an opportunity to develop your skills.
- Mentoring- Your team leader, along with each General Dynamics IT professional you come into contact with, is committed to mentoring you throughout your internship. The program strives to offer real responsibilities and meaningful experiences to help interns make important career choices. You will also be paired with an experienced associate who can answer questions, help you figure out how to complete your work, show you where to find the information you need, and look out for your general well-being.
- Community Service– As an intern with General Dynamics IT, you will experience first-hand the company’s passion and commitment to improving the surrounding communities, when you participate in one of their summer volunteer opportunities.
- Networking- General Dynamics IT offers interns numerous opportunities to network with many different employees including the Vice Presidents and CEO!
Posted requisitions detail the respective educational requirement (undergraduate or graduate) along with the corresponding discipline of study. General Dynamics Information Technology requires interns to be currently enrolled at a 2 or 4-year college or university.
The General Dynamics Information Technology internship requires a full-time (40 hours per week) commitment for the full 10-week summer program. Extensions beyond the normal 10-weeks are determined on a case-by-case basis depending on departmental need as well as the availability of the intern.
