• The intent of our internship program is to hire exceptional talent that we hope to convert to full-time hires upon graduation based on performance and business need. We do not hire interns for “summer help”.

• We primarily focus on undergraduates at four year institutions available during the summer of their junior and senior year. Our typical profile student is enthusiastic with a good GPA and excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
• Typically we have 50-55 interns and it varies each year by division
• Our interns are expected to spend 12 weeks with Hallmark leading a project or being a key member on a project team. It’s expected these projects are timely, relevant and impactful to the business.
• Our program is robust! Each assignment includes individual development plans with specific objectives and deliverables intended to drive or impact the business in a positive way. Interns are formally evaluated by their internship manager at least two times during the 12 weeks.
• Interns participate in discussions with their college recruiter regarding the program at least twice during the summer.
• Internships are paid – typically competitive with the national market. A relocation stipend is provided to students who relocate to the Kansas City metro area. All interns receive travel reimbursement for their travel to Kansas City at the beginning of the summer and then back to their university at the end of the summer.
• We usually have interns in Finance, Marketing, Corporate Retail, IT, DIM, Mass Customers, HR, Creative (writing, editorial, design) and Supply Chain, Engineering
• While most internship opportunities will be located at our corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, internships may also be available at one of our production or distribution centers in Kansas, Missouri or Connecticut.
Networking, Mentors and Peer Interaction
• Interns participate in a half-day orientation on their first day conducted by the college relations department.
• Each intern is assigned a mentor and perhaps a “buddy” in addition to a manager.
• We support “corporate activities” (all interns from all divisions participate together with college relations staff) for the interns to participate in after hours (local entertainment, sports etc.) as well as business presentations during business hours.
• Each division supports division-specific activities after hours as well as speaking events during business hours.
• Interns have access to all management levels at Hallmark for networking meetings, lunch and learns and other networking and leadership events.
• Interns participate on committees to organize volunteer and community service activities throughout the summer, as well as social events and planning the intern family visit to Hallmark.
Selection for Full-time Process
• Interns present project work at the end of the summer to senior managers/directors of the department/division, college recruiting board members and the internship managers.
• A decision meeting is held to rank the interns based on performance, culture fit and their stated interest in full-time employment.
• Offers and rejections are typically communicated once the student returns to school.

Our tupical profile student is enthusiastic with a good GPA and excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills. Specific divisions may have additional qualification requirements.
