In the U.S., the firm's investment banking operation collaborates with offices around the world on cross-border deals, with a special emphasis on the middle market. Its services include mergers and acquisitions advisory, private placements, restructuring and project finance for U.S. and multinational clients.

Other divisions within Rothschild cover private banking and trust, merchant banking, and corporate banking. The firm's industry groups of focus include real estate, financial institutions, consumer and retail, hotels and leisure, healthcare, mining, industrials, business services, energy and power, transport and infrastructure, and  technology, media, and telecoms.

To support its efforts, Rothschild offers internship opportunities in Global Financial Advisory, Wealth Management & Trust, Merchant Banking, Institutional Asset Management and Human Resources. The type and duration vary from country to country, but in general consist of two main types, the Summer Internships and the Long Term Internships.

Summer Internship - A 10 week program aimed at students in their penultimate year of university. The internship typically begins with an intensive training programme to help them hit the ground running.

Long-Term Internship - The long-term internships are aimed at students in their penultimate year of university and recent graduates. They are typically between three, six and nine months in duration and start at various points throughout the year. The aim of the internship is to provide a sample of what it is like to work at Rothschild and to help them decide if this is the company and the career for them. At the end of the internship, the firm will evaluate an intern's performance and will consider them for a position on the following year’s Graduate Internship Program where applicable.

Rothschild seeks people from different backgrounds, universities and degree disciplines who can bring new ideas with them to the firm.

As far as fhe fundamental skills, the firm looks for individuals who can demonstrate good communication skills; drive and ambition; sound judgement; creativity; execution excellence; presence; teamwork; and numeracy.
