By combining entrepreneurial drive and robust risk management with deep industry and regional expertise, the firm uncovers financial opportunities others miss.
Macquarie's internship program is as unique as its culture. A select number of participants are chosen from a group of high-qualified candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and an enterprising spirit.
Working in close cooperation with professionals across all functions of the organization, Macquarie's 10 week internship program provides real, hands-on responsibilities. The program begins with a firm-wide orientation followed by additional division-specific training where appropriate. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the firm (the “Macquarie Difference”) from a variety of our staff ranging from recent campus hires to key senior leaders. After orientation and training, they will receive specific responsibilities that provide them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and provide a sense of what they would be doing, day to day, as a full-time Macquarie employee. Successful Summer Analysts may be invited back to join the firm on a full time basis.
Interns are placed in a variety of groups across the firm including Macquarie Capital, Risk Management, Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets and the Corporate and Asset Finance Group. Internships are primarily located in New York, Bloomfield Hills, MI, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, Los Angeles, CA, and Nashville, TN. The following is a brief rundown of each group:
Macquarie Asset Management - A summer intern will have the opportunity to gain buy-side experience with a global leader in the sector. They are encouraged to work alongside their team to assess new investment opportunities, execute acquisitions and work with portfolio companies on strategic projects.
Corporate and Asset Finance - A summer intern will have opportunities to experience first-hand what it’s like to work at Macquarie. The structured program provides for job-specific training sessions and a range of social activities for interns to grow their business networks. Interns may have the opportunity to undertake detailed research and analysis, learn directly from peers and mentors and develop a broader understanding of asset finance, leasing and corporate lending.
Macquarie Capital - Summer interns receive specialist training in financial modelling and technical skills, and in presentation and communications skills. Summer interns also have the opportunity to grow their network through organised social events. At the conclusion of the program, interns are offered the opportunity to present a transaction pitch to a board of Macquarie Capital directors.
Risk Management - Interns will have the opportunity to carry out a variety of tasks including research, analysis and reporting of risks across the organization. They will also have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented people in the risk management industry and gain valuable on-the-job experience. Summer interns are also invited to participate in training and information sessions with peers across Macquarie Group. These include a job-specific induction, a number of lunch and learn sessions, and social networking events.
Interns are paid a competitive salary and offered relocation assistance where appropriate. Macquarie offices have full kitchens with break-out areas and open floor plans. Other benefits may include access to showers/changing rooms and bicycle storage.
In order to be considered for a summer internship, candidates should be in their junior year of undergraduate study or between their first and second year of a Master's program.
