HSBC offers a Global Private Banking Internship for penultimate-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree students. The program, available to students in the U.S. (Florida and New York City), Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK, offers a detailed understanding of what it takes to become a relationship manager, investment counsellor or product specialist within Global Private Banking, with a view to developing a successful career in international private banking.
Interns will work alongside an expert team that provides wealth management advice and tailored investment solutions to help HSBC's high-net-worth clients and their families achieve their financial goals. As well as seeing how the firm builds relationships with its clients, interns will learn all about HSBC's comprehensive investment offering, which covers all asset classes. This division works in close partnership with HSBC's Commercial Banking and its other global businesses, and successful applicants will see how the firm aims to provide the best of HSBC to its high-net-worth clients.
The program offers a combination of practical, hands-on experience with technical and beahvioral skills training, along with exposure to a range of banking solutions. During the internship program, successful applicants will be set measurable objectives and receive feedback throughout the 10 weeks. There will be many people they can call on for support. Their manager will be able to give them guidance on their career options. They’ll be assigned a mentor who will help them to get the most out of the experience, and a buddy to share ideas with and who they can call on for advice. There will be regular business and social events to attend so they can build a network of global contacts, which will prove invaluable to them in the future. They can also take part in sustainability initiatives, which could help them become a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which the firm works.
