Activity level in the VC industry has been on the uptick since the recession of the late 2000s, according to the National Venture Capital Association. From 2013 through 2019, there were six straight years of $35 billion or more of venture capital funds raised each year. In 2019, the median fund size was $80 million, the highest it had been since 2008. And while the coronavirus pandemic has negatively affected many industries in 2020, venture capital firms have stayed resilient, able to continue conducting business remotely. Employment growth in venture capital firms is expected to pick up post pandemic.
