In May 2015, surveyors earned a median annual salary of $58,020, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The middle 50 percent earned between $43,380 and $77,230 a year. The lowest paid 10 percent were paid less than $32,850, and the highest paid 10 percent earned over $95,800 a year. In general, the federal government paid the highest wages to its surveyors, $84,490 a year.
