Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists

Unions and Associations

The U.S. Department of Labor reports that approximately 40 percent of speech-language pathologists and 15 percent of audiologists are union members or covered by union contracts. They also may join professional associations such as the American Auditory Society, Educational Audiology Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association offers resources for college students. Certification is offered by the ASHA and the American Board of Audiology.
