Solar Energy Installation Managers

Outlook

Solar energy installation managers will continue to have good employment opportunities in the coming years. The Solar Energy Industries Association reports that "solar energy in the United States is booming." The cost to install solar equipment has dropped by more than 70 percent since 2010, which has been leading to the expansion of solar energy in new markets. As of 2016, there were more than 1.6 million solar installations in the United States, and that number is expected to reach 4 million by 2023. There was a slight dip in employment in solar energy from 2016 through 2017, according to the National Solar Jobs Census, but it predicts that the "long-term trend continues to show growth" in the solar energy workforce. Solar energy installation managers will be in demand by residential and commercial customers to help them plan and implement solar energy installation projects. Installation managers with several years of management experience, certification, and skills in computer-aided design and project management software programs will have the best job prospects.
