Unions and Associations

The U.S. Department of Labor reports that approximately 24 percent of social workers are members of a union or covered by a union contract. Many social workers are members of the National Association of Social Workers. The Association of Social Work Boards provides information on licensing. The Council on Social Work Education offers information on educational programs. Social workers who are employed in Canada can obtain information on education and careers from the Canadian Association for Social Work Education and the Canadian Association of Social Workers.
