Earnings vary according to the type of work, the industry, and the geographical location. According to a spring 2016 survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the average beginning salary for new graduates with bachelor's degrees in engineering was $63,764. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median yearly income for industrial production managers (a category that includes quality control engineers) was $93,940 in May 2015. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $56,640 and the highest paid 10 percent made more than $162,240.
