Precision Machinists

Outlook

Employment of machinists is expected to grow faster than the average for all careers through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). According to the DOL, "as manufacturers invest in new equipment, modify production techniques, and implement product design changes more rapidly, they will continue to rely heavily on experienced machinists." The increased use of computer-controlled machine tools improves efficiency, but machinists will still be needed to set up, monitor, and maintain these automated systems.
