The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the median annual salary for elementary school teachers was $54, 890 in May 2015. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $36,190; the highest paid 10 percent earned $85,550 or more. Middle school teachers earned median salaries of $55,860 with the lowest 10 percent earning $37,350 or less and the highest 10 percent earning $87,060 or more. Secondary school teachers had median earnings of $57,200. Ten percent earned $37,800 or less, and 10 percent earned $91,190 or more annually.
