Photojournalists

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor reports that employment for photographers at print newspapers will decline by more than 41 percent through 2024 as a result of industry consolidation, declines in advertising revenue, and the continuing transition of print publications to digital formats. Photojournalism is a highly competitive field, but individuals who develop a strong portfolio, develop and maintain professional contacts, and stay on the edge of digital technology will find job opportunities in the future.
