The average annual base salary for pharmaceutical scientists was $147,900 in 2015, according to a survey by the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Salaries ranged from less than $75,000 to $200,000 or more. The survey also compared salaries by education level. Pharmacologists with a master’s degree earned annual median salaries of $119,000. Pharmacologists with a Ph.D. earned median annual salaries of $143,000, and those with a Pharm.D. earned $163,000. Bonuses, especially for those in industry, can increase yearly earnings considerably. Benefits generally include health and dental insurance and paid vacation and sick days.
