Unions and Associations

Orthoptists participate in professional associations to enhance their careers. Membership to groups such as these offers access to educational programs, conferences, research and publications, professional standards, and other resources: American Association of Certified Orthoptists, American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Association of Technical Personnel in Ophthalmology, and the International Orthoptic Association. The American Orthoptic Council and the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology provide education and certification programs.
