Orthoptists will have good job opportunities in the years to come, according to the Occupational Information Network, which predicts rapid employment growth. One factor that will contribute to this growth is the aging population. More people are living longer, which is leading to greater demand for orthoptists and other eye specialists to help diagnose and treat eye disorders. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that orthoptists will have faster than average employment growth through 2028. A growing number of people have medical coverage that includes eye care, which will mean greater demand for orthoptists and related eye specialists. Competition will be keen for orthoptists positions. Those who are certified, have strong technology skills, and prior work experience will have the best job prospects.
