Locksmiths

Outlook

Employment for locksmiths will decline by 15 percent through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Despite this prediction, there will be some openings as a result of current locksmiths leaving the field. Additionally, population growth and an expanding public awareness of the need for preventive measures against home, business, and auto burglary will create a need for security devices and their maintenance. Also, many individuals and firms are replacing older lock and alarm systems with the latest developments in computerized equipment. Consequently, opportunities will be best for those workers who are able to install and service electronic security systems.
