Salaries depend on such factors as the location, size, and type of library, the amount of experience the library assistant has, and the responsibilities of the position. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median annual salary of library assistants was $24,480 in May 2015. Salaries ranged from less than $17,800 to $39,110 or more. On average, assistants working in specialty libraries that require technical knowledge have higher earning potential.
