Laboratory Testing Technicians

Overall, employment for laboratory workers is expected to be good. Employment for medical and clinical technicians should grow 11 percent through 2028, or much faster than the average, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Job opportunities at testing laboratories will be affected by advances in technology. New testing procedures that are developed will lead to an increase in the testing that is done. However, increased automation will mean each technician can complete more work.
