Salaries and bonuses for investment bankers vary greatly based on the size and prestige of one’s employer. In 2015, the business news Web site Business Insider and the salary benchmarking Web site Emolument collected salary data from 20 major investment banks in New York City. It organized the banks into Tier 1 and Tier 2 categories, and determined that investment bankers employed by Tier 1 banks had significantly higher earnings than those at Tier 2 banks.
