Internet Transaction Specialists

History

Since the boom of the World Wide Web in the 1990s, companies have flocked to use Internet technology to communicate with employees, customers, clients, buyers, and future stockholders. As a result, these companies need workers to ensure that their systems are secure, and to develop improved systems so that transactions can take place as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

At first, the majority of Internet sites were created and maintained by a sole individual who was a jack-of-all-trades. Today, Web sites are often designed, implemented, and managed by entire departments composed of numerous individuals, such as Internet transaction specialists, who specialize in creating the systems or software used to conduct transactions on the Internet.

As more people use the Internet to make purchases, there are also more people trying to steal credit card and other personal information they can use to commit fraud or theft. E-commerce specialists must be up-to-date on all the latest encryption and other software available to protect customers' information.

As consumers become more comfortable with buying online and companies expand their Internet businesses, Internet transaction specialists will be needed to ensure that systems are running effectively and safely.
