Inbound Tour Guides

History

The United States is viewed by many (thanks to American film and television exports) as a land of wealth, excitement, and glamour—in short, a dream destination. Many cities and attractions have built a reputation as travel musts, among them Las Vegas, Hollywood, New York City, San Francisco, Disneyland, and Disney World. So many people travel to these cities that a tourism subspecialty was born—inbound tour guides. Tour guides may escort visitors through sites such as the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas; Alcatraz prison in San Francisco; or Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West, Florida. Inbound tour guides lead tours for foreign visitors as well as Americans who are on vacation.
