Hotel Restaurant Managers

Work Environment

Hotel restaurants have long hours—some are open 24 hours a day. It’s not uncommon for restaurant managers to work 50 to 60 hours a week. Expect late hours if closing the restaurant, or early hours if opening one for breakfast. Managers are the backbone of a successful eatery, so many times they are called on to work weekends and holidays. It would be safe to say their lives revolve around the restaurant, the hotel, and the demands of business. The key to success is to remain calm and levelheaded no matter how tough the day, how uncooperative the employee, or how irate the customer.
