About 14 percent are employed in manufacturing industries and 10 percent work for state and local government government agencies (excluding education and hospitals). Others are employed in service industries, such as elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, hospitals and nursing homes, and hotels, office and apartment buildings, and utility companies.
