Unions and Associations

Family lawyers who are employed by the government can become members of the American Federation of Government Employees and other unions. Many family lawyers join the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, American Bar Association, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, International Academy of Family Lawyers, International Society of Family Law, National Association of Counsel for Children (NACC), and the National Association of Women Lawyers. The National Board of Trial Advocacy and the NACC provide certification to family lawyers. Other important organizations for lawyers include the Association of American Law Schools, Law School Admission Council, and the National Association for Law Placement.
