Salaries for wine-making professionals ranged from a low of $35,000 for cellar workers to highs of more than $200,000 for top winemakers and other executives at some larger wineries, according to a survey of the wine industry by Wine Business Monthly in 2019. Assistant winemaker is a typical position for an enology graduate with a few years experience. Median salaries in this position ranged from $75,500 at small wineries to $77,100 at large wineries. Enologists at large wineries earned median salaries of $59,400, and at small wineries, $58,548. Median salaries for winemakers ranged from $103,000 to $140,000, depending on the size of the establishment. Median earnings for winemaking directors ranged from $145,673 to $165,000, depending on winery or vineyard size.
