Electrologists

Outlook

The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment for those in the cosmetology field, which includes electrologists, will increase faster than the average for all careers through 2024. This favorable outlook is due to both a growing population and changing attitudes towards cosmetology in general, namely that procedures such as electrolysis, once viewed as luxuries for the wealthy, are now accepted as a routine part of maintaining one's personal appearance. Many salons, professional offices, and hospitals and clinics are striving to offer cutting-edge technologies and services to maintain—or gain—a competitive edge, which will create more jobs for electrologists. Further, the demand for electrologists is growing due to the increased awareness of and interest in this service. Since electrolysis has been practiced for more than a century, an increasing number of people feel comfortable with the procedure and are scheduling sessions. There are generally greater opportunities for electrologists in larger cities and highly populated areas.
