Diet and Fitness Writers

Work Environment

Working conditions vary for writers. Although full-time writers typically work 35 to 40 hours a week, many writers work overtime. A health or fitness publication that is published frequently has more deadlines closer together, creating greater pressures to meet them. The work is especially hectic at newspapers and broadcasting companies, which operate seven days a week. These specialized writers often work nights and weekends to meet deadlines or to cover a last-minute story.
