Data Scientists

Work Environment

The career of data scientist might seem like a solitary job (with data scientists spending hours at the computer developing data analysis tools and analyzing data). But while a typical day in the life of a data scientist certainly involves some solitary computer time, it also necessitates a significant degree of collaboration with other data science professionals at meetings and on the telephone. Data scientists who work as consultants travel to the offices of clients to give presentations, attend meetings, and brainstorm with an organization’s top executives. Many data scientists find this career to be rewarding because it is intellectually demanding and no two workdays are alike (i.e., an organization’s data goals constantly evolve and new ways to collect and analyze data are always emerging).
