The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not have wage or employment data specifically for chimney sweeps. The BLS category closest to chimney sweeps is building cleaning workers, all others. For this category, the lowest 10 percent of these workers earned $18,870 per year and the highest 10% of these workers earned $42,240 annually in May 2015. The median annual salary for building cleaning workers, all other, was $29,250. The Web site SimplyHired confirms that these BLS estimates for building cleaning workers, all other are generally applicable for chimney sweeps. For example, SimplyHired reports that in May 2016, the average salary of chimney sweeps was $28,000.
