Certification or Licensing

Chief sustainability officers with certification show employers they have achieved a recognized level of skills, knowledge, and experience in their field. The International Society of Sustainability Professionals offers the ISSP Certified Sustainability Professional designation for those with five or more years of experience in the field and who pass an exam. Individuals who are new to the field can receive the Sustainability Associate certification. CSOs may also receive certification in general management practices through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers.
