Behavioral Health Technicians

Outlook

Behavioral health technicians will have excellent job opportunities in the years to come. The Department of Labor predicts 12 percent employment growth, much faster than the average, through 2029, for psychiatric technicians, which includes behavioral health technicians. Job growth will be due to the increase in mental health disorders and the increased awareness of mental health treatment programs and resources that are available and accessible. Behavioral health technicians will also be needed as people are living longer and the older population will require treatment for memory disorders and diseases. Correctional facilities will also require behavioral health technicians to treat prisoners with mental health disorders.
